How to Choose Online Speech Therapy Games
Published by Konvoo Speech · Product guide
Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) can choose games by the session task, available word choices, and how the child can participate. Start with those needs before choosing a game format.
This guide uses examples from Konvoo’s own catalog. It describes product features and SLP-led use; it is not an independent ranking of SLP products or evidence of treatment effectiveness.
Match the Activity to the Task
| Look for | Konvoo example | Check before play |
|---|---|---|
| Selected articulation words | Matching | Sound list and chosen words |
| CV, VC, or CVC word shapes | Matching: CV, VC, CVC | Available word-shape group |
| Following directions | Potion Directions | Room, steps per potion, and direction words |
| WH questions | Picture Detective | Scene and question categories |
| Story order | Story Sequencer | Sequence length and text support |
| Creative requests | Make a Cake | Preparation flow or decorating shortcut |
Compare Setup and Customization
Check the actual word list before a session. Games that accept a custom word set say so in their activity guide. Other games use their own pictures, categories, or prompts. The Word Set Builder can prepare an active set for compatible games.
Choose a Comfortable Pace
Consider how much reading, listening, movement, and time pressure the activity requires. Category Master has a timer; Category Scavenger Hunt provides a different search format. Arcade speed and scores should not be interpreted as speech ability.
Choosing Online Games for Teletherapy
Prioritize readable pictures, a clear next action, and a workflow the SLP can operate while the child responds. Check the screen-sharing setup guide before the call, including audio sharing where needed.
Walk Through One Example

For Potion Directions, open the game, keep Friendly Spooky Night and the initial two-step setting, and select Start Game. Read the direction together and ask the child to describe the first and next actions. The SLP carries them out on screen. Change the step count, or the direction words in Advanced Options, when a different activity demand is appropriate. Wizard’s Star Tower plays the same way with its own shelf of ingredients.
Check Access Before Saving a Collection
The public games can currently be opened without an account. A verified adult account is required to save favorites, organize game collections, and save cloud word sets. The session planner also requires a verified adult account.
